THE GRUNGE GARAGE WITH BOB STEI ~ SAT 8PM-MID
We are deeply saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of Bob Stei on August 13, 2026, host and creator of the syndicated Grunge Garage and Britpop Show.
Bob has been a voice on Channel 98.9 since 2021, bringing his knowledge and passion for alternative, grunge and Britpop music to our listeners. He was more than a syndicated program host to us. Bob was a friend and colleague, and over the years I had many conversations with him about radio, music and the industry we both love.
Bob’s wife is from our region, in Conneaut, Ohio, which made our connection feel a little closer to home. We had talked about getting together in person at some point, but unfortunately never had the opportunity.
The future of and Britpop Show on Channel 98.9 is currently undetermined. For now, our thoughts are with Bob’s wife, children, family, friends, colleagues and the many listeners who knew him through his work in radio.
A GoFundMe has been established by Bob’s daughter, Kim Steinberg, to help his family with funeral and immediate family expenses**. Those who would like to offer financial support can find the fundraiser through the family’s GoFundMe page.
Bob’s voice and passion for the music will be missed.
